The format is mixed — this is not a tower of identical studios but a compact complex where apartments sit alongside villas.
Fisherman's Village, with its bars, cafés and Friday night market, is about 5 minutes on foot, and Bophut beach roughly the same. The airport is 10 minutes away, Chaweng 15. Rent guide: apartments from ~$355/month or ~$24/night in low season; pool villas from ~$1,000/month and ~$65/night.
Best for: People who want to live in the most walkable corner of the island: market, cafés and sea on foot, with a pool in the courtyard.

What makes Bophut good?
It's the most European-feeling part of the island: Fisherman's Village with its shops and bars, the Friday market, and plenty of brunch cafés for long-stayers. The beach is calmer and emptier than Chaweng's.
Apartment or villa?
If there are four or more of you, do the maths on a villa: a pool villa comes out close to the price of two apartments, with far more space and privacy.
