Buildings

low-rise blocks — Samui caps building heights

The Bay Condominium is one of the few genuine condo projects on Samui: low-rise blocks on the slope above Bang Rak, close to the Big Buddha. There's a communal pool, parking and security; units run from studios to one- and two-bedroom apartments, some with a view over the strait towards Koh Phangan. You won't find towers here, and you never will — the island caps building heights.

The location is above all a logistical one. Samui airport is 5–7 minutes away, the piers for Koh Phangan and Koh Tao are practically next door, and Chaweng is 10–15 minutes along ring road 4169. Bang Rak itself is quiet, but the sand is coarser than Chaweng's and the entry into the water is mediocre — for a proper swim people drive to Choeng Mon or Chaweng. Rent guide: studios from ~$400/month, or from ~$26/night in low season and ~$40 in high.

Best for: Anyone who puts logistics first: the airport and the island ferries on the doorstep, Chaweng 15 minutes away, and a flat with a pool and a bay view.

FAQ

Can you swim here?

Bang Rak (Big Buddha Beach) is calm and shallow, with sand coarser than Chaweng's. For proper swimming people drive 10–15 minutes to Choeng Mon or Chaweng.

Is it noisy so close to the airport?

Samui airport is small and closed at night, with few flights, so the background is far quieter than at a major hub. You do hear the planes, though, and that's worth factoring in.

What does renting cost?

Ballpark: studios from ~$400/month and from ~$26/night; two-bedroom apartments cost more. Message us and we'll check which units are free on your dates.
